Owners urged to microchip their pets

PETLINE organiser Chris Butterworth is calling on Trafford’s pet owners to make sure their animals are micro-chipped.

This would allow the borough’s animal welfare workers to concentrate their resources on genuine strays.

Animals which don’t fall into this category could be quickly re-united with their owners if they were micro-chipped.

Chris says owners should also make sure the contact details contained on the micro-chip are up to date.

She thinks organisations could do more about educating young children - the pet owners of the future - about what’s involved in looking after a pet.

Moving on, six cats and two dogs have been re-united with their relieved owners.
