Crowds flock to new Urmston library

MORE than 1,000 people made it through the doors of Urmston Library on its opening day.

The state-of-the-art library, part of Trafford Council and Ask developers Eden Square project, opened to the public on Saturday, attracting a huge crowd, all eager to check out the new facilities.

These included a children's library, 10 public access computers, a dedicated learning centre and 6,000 more books than in the previous library, with 50 new borrowers signing up at the opening alone.

Executive councillor Mike Cornes said: "I am delighted so many people turned up on the library's first day. It is an excellent facility and one which is a great asset for people in Urmston alongside the rest of the first phase of the Eden Square development."
