AN award-winning South African choir saw snow for the very first time last week.
The group were visiting Trafford’s Chill Factore on Saturday where they got to experience and play in a sub-zero climate for the first time in their lives.
The pupils are from Matseliso High School in Soweto, and have travelled to the North West to learn about British culture.
The children visited Chill Factore on the first day of their week long stay in the UK, and performed in their traditional outfits for visitors to the attraction’s Alpine village, before playing in the snow for the first time - having a go at snow tubing and taking on the ice slide.
Sybil Mehlape, head of arts and culture at Matseliso High, described the children’s excitement ahead of the trip.
Chief executive at Chill Factore, Stephen Evans, said: “It was fantastic to see the smiles on the children’s faces when they saw snow for the first time.
“Their reaction was one of real excitement and we all thoroughly enjoyed their performance in the Alpine village before they went on the slopes.”
