Partington Town Council exhibits at RHS Flower Show in Tatton Park

PARTINGTON Town Council is looking to take on all comers in this year’s RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park.

The town council is exhibiting an imaginative flowerbed entitled ‘Partington Pride’ in the Colegrave National Flower Bed competition.

The project, co-ordinated by the town council’s Alan Hamilton, draws on the town council logo, which depicts a ship when Partington was invaded by Vikings from the River Mersey.

The flowerbed shows the flowing water of the river and of the food the Vikings plundered on their victorious quest.

The striking Viking-designed exhibition will take around five days to construct and is being built in layers from the base upwards.

There are four people working on the design from Partington Town Council and further volunteers from the community willing to help out.

Although the town council has little experience in such floral shows, Alan remains optimistic: “It’s a top-notch event and we’re pretty much novices, but we’re definitely remaining hopeful and we may be able to shock some of the competition”.

The event is the highlight of the show and many large councils are hoping to gain the top spot.

The show takes place from July 22 to 26.
