PLANS for the first 150 of 600 new homes in Trafford – as part of a £100m development – have been tabled.

Blueprints, submitted to the town hall Galliford Try Partnerships and Trafford Housing Trust, show the potential for properties on land at Heath Farm Lane, which backs onto Carrington Moss, in Partington.

The plan is for a mix of one and five-bed properties and apartments for private sale, shared ownership and affordable rent.

Developers say 148 homes could be built on the former gas works site. A full planning application has been submitted for the first part of the new estate.

Outline plans for remaining 452 homes, alongside new public open space, have been tabled.

New roads will be built, as well as car parking spaces, electrical sub-stations and drainage.

Planning documents read: “The proposal is to develop the site with up to 600 residential units with vehicle access taken from Broadway and Moss View Road.

“The site will generate a new place that aims to meet the needs of the new community and its future generations.

“It also seeks to deliver a sustainable development and a high quality of life that improves the social and environmental well being of its residents.”

“The proposals therefore have the potential to support the existing community and local businesses through an increased population living nearby.”

Steven Grimster, planning director at Barton Willmore, said: “There is a need for new housing across Trafford, and the redevelopment of this disused brownfield site will generate a number of benefits both locally and Borough-wide.

“The development has the potential to kick-start a significant and long-awaited transformation in Partington through the delivery of a mix of new housing alongside extensive areas of green open space to create a quality living environment.”

Brendan Blythe, regional managing director at Galliford Try Partnerships North West, said: “Trafford Housing Trust has a well-established reputation within the Trafford and Greater Manchester area, therefore we are delighted to enter into this joint venture to establish Heath Farm Lane LLP and bring forward this important regeneration scheme.

“In recent years, the Partington area has undergone extensive investment and we look forward to using our expertise in delivering high quality, sustainable housing to rejuvenate the area and create a thriving, high quality community.”
