A MOTORCYCLIST has died and a woman injured in a collision on Barton Dock Road, Stretford.

Police were called to Barton Dock Road, at the junction with Caledonia Way, in Stretford at 11.15am after receiving reports that a silver Nissan Qashqai had collided with a man on a blue Triumph motorcycle.

Paramedics treated the motorcyclist, a man in his twenties, at the scene before taking him to hospital.

Police have confirmed the man died at hospital from his injuries.

A woman in her thirties, who was in the Qashqai was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Sergeant Brian Orr from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This is an absolutely tragic collision that has taken one man’s life.

“As we continue our investigation into how this incident happened, my thoughts are with their loved ones, at what must be a devastating time.

It is the second fatal crash involving a motorcycle in Stretford in two days.

A 30-year-old man died in hospital today after suffering catastrophic injuries sustained in a crash in Winchester Road yesterday afternoon.
