HUNKY hounds will have tongues wagging when they strut their stuff at Trafford's summer dog show.

The Society for Abandoned Animals (SAA) will host the dog show at their sanctuary off Dane Road in Sale on Sunday, August 12.

The show is a new addition to the animal charity's annual Summer Fair, and will help raise much-needed funds for the centre's abandoned animals.

Meg Toplass, the charity's fundraiser, said: "Events such as this are hugely important to the sanctuary because they help raise money for the animals in our care, as well as raise awareness and find new homes.

Messenger Newspapers:

"There are currently 73 animals at the sanctuary, 42 cats and 31 rabbits, and this will cost the sanctuary £6,100 in routine vet bills alone. That doesn't include any illnesses, dental treatment, or even the cost of food.

"We know Trafford loves its dogs, so if you're proud of your pooch, please join the Society for a fun day out for all the family.

"You'll also be helping support the work of a fantastic charity."

You can enter your pooch in the following categories:

• Hunkiest Hound

• Loveliest Lady

• Best Rescue

• Golden Oldie

• Waggiest Tail

• Best Trick

Registration will open at 12pm, with the first dogs to hit the cat walk at 12.30pm.

The winners from each class will go through to the 2018 SAA Best in Show.

The summer fair will also have stalls, games, food and a bar. Families can visit the animals looking for new homes and help the sanctuary to raise much needed funds.

The Fair will be held at the sanctuary, off Dane Road, Sale, from 12pm to 4pm. The sanctuary only has limited parking but it is just a short walk down the towpath from Sale and Stretford town centres, and near to the Dane Road Metrolink.

The sanctuary is desperate for donations to help make their Summer Fair a huge success.

If you, your workplace, or anyone you know has any gifts, gift sets, children’s toys, bottles (anything from alcohol to ketchup), toiletries, raffle prizes, etc. please consider donating them to the sanctuary for the Summer Fair (donations can be dropped off in reception any day between 9am and 5pm).

Entry is £1 for adults and 50p for children.
