A REJUVENATED nature trail in Trafford will undergo a final clean this Saturday, before it re-opens for the summer school break.

The Redbrook Trail in Partington, which first opened in 2007, has undergone a regeneration this year in preparation for its summer opening.

Between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday, July 21, volunteers from the community will lend their hands for one final clean-up before the nature trail opens to the public on Sunday.

Volunteers, including staff from Your Housing Group, have been working with urban rangers from the National Trust to repair fences, paint signage, clear weeds and pick litter.

They were accompanied by an intrepid team of bug-hunters from nearby Broadoak School. The budding ecologists worked with materials donated by builders’ supplier Travis Perkins, to paint and repair the footpaths and picnic areas.

The schoolchildren also helped clear the entrance to the Redbrook Trail from off Oak Road and build new steps to make access to the trail easier.

Further regeneration of the Redbrook Trail will involve widening paths and restoring signs so that it can be used and enjoyed by the local community.

If you’d like to take part in the event this Saturday, you can join the team outside Oak Roads shops at 2pm, or find the team who will be located along the trail.

Equipment will be provided, all that is needed is your support.

Your Housing Group is also in consultation with Partington residents with ambitious proposals to regenerate the community and is working with local partners and services to provide opportunities for the area.

A spokesman for the housing association said: “We jumped at the chance to get involved with the Redbrook Trail. The project very much aligns with our social commitments to give back to the communities we serve.

“Working alongside the other partners, we have helped to rejuvenate the outdoor space to create an improved environment for local people to enjoy, especially during the summer months.

"We’re delighted to support this worthwhile project and hope this trail remains a firm fixture in the community for years to come.”
