POP superstar Rita Ora kick-started the intu Trafford Centre's 20th birthday celebrations on Sunday with a free concert.

The former X-Factor judge performed the exclusive free gig in front of 5,000 fans on the main stage in The Orient.

The chart-topping songstress performed an energetic set before an adoring crowd and treated fans to a selection of her biggest hits, including Anywhere and Girls.

The concert was the start of a summer long series of free events to mark the shopping centre's 20th birthday.

Throughout August, the intu Trafford Centre will host a range of events including glitter parties, an edible bubble experience and the "world’s first nitro ice cream buggy".

The Beach will also return so shoppers can work on their tan outside The Great Hall from July 21.

The Trafford Centre's official birthday will take place on Monday, September 10 with some very special celebrations.

"She was amazing and it was clear that our shoppers loved the opportunity to see a real superstar in the centre for free.”
