RESIDENTS, community groups and businesses are being urged to to give their views on crime.

Trafford Council is working alongside Greater Manchester Police and various other agencies that make up the ‘Safer Trafford Partnership’  on the consultation.

The partnership is hosting a series of  public events in a bid to capture the views of the  local community on crime.

The Greater Manchester Police initiative Standing Together was launched this year to tackle crime, anti-social behaviour and support community safety Each authority has been given £100,000 to deliver the scheme.

Bosses at the Trafford partnership want to hear from local people to ensure the borough’s priorities are aligned with the Greater Manchester strategy – and explore how to get the best out of available resources.

Cllr Catherine Hynes, deputy leader of Trafford council, said she would welcome the views of local people.

She added: “While Trafford is the safest borough in Greater Manchester, there has been an increase in reported crime across the country while at the same time a reduction in police resources.

“We want to hear from residents on their priorities and also their ideas on how we can work more collaboratively across agencies and with communities to keep Trafford safe.”

The events will also give residents the opportunity to meet their local police officers and community safety team, and learn how to can get involved in working more closely with them.

The events will be held at various locations across the borough next month.

The meetings are  scheduled to take place from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on  9 July, at Limelight, 1 St. Brides Way, Old Trafford; 16 July, at People’s Church Hall, Chapel Lane, Partington; 17 July, at Waterside Arts Centre, Waterside Plaza, Sale and 18 July,  at Altrincham Town Hall, Market Street, Altrincham.
