STAFF at two Trafford care homes have been recognised for their efforts in an inaugural awards ceremony held in their honour.

Kingsley Healthcare North West Care Awards applauded their staff at homes across the region including Four Oaks Care Home, Partington and Timperley Care Home, Timperley.

More than 100 staff and invited guests attended the event at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Knutsford.

The staff at both homes in Trafford have shown their resolve to help turn around the fortunes of both homes after Four Oaks was rated as inadequate and Timperley Care Home, was rated as requiring improvement by Care Quality Commission inspectors earlier this year.

Underlining that determination, the Registered Nurse of the Year award was won by Fours Oaks’s Lisa Litchfield; Support Worker of the Year went to Joseph Hutchinson of Timperley Care Home; Activities Co-ordinator of the Year was won by Estelle Felstead, of Timperley Care Home; Maintenance Person of the Year went to Simon Smith for his work at both homes; The Care Home Support Services Champion was Nicola Wagster, of Four Oaks; and the Rising Star award went to Vicki Roberts at Four Oaks.

Kingsley CEO Daya Thayan said: “We are proud to have established Kingsley Healthcare as a familiar and trusted brand in the North West, running care homes that are truly at the heart of their communities.

“Our staff are at the heart of everything we do and with their dedication, commitment and professionalism I am confident we can continue to grow the Kingsley brand across the region.”

Kingsley’s North West regional director Ian Smallwood said he was impressed at the commitment shown by all their staff and reflected Mr Thayan’s personal ethos is that every home had to be good enough for their own parents.
