RESIDENTS in Partington say they are at their wits end over anti-social behaviour on a Trafford housing estate.

It also follows a fire which broke out shortly after 11.30am today at the former Red Brook pub in Oak Road.

The pub, which has been closed for a few years, was opened in 1981 by Greenall’s to serve the newly built estate at the west end of Partington, but eventually closed.

A resident said the fire was the latest in a series of events which have plagued local residents fed up with anti-social behaviour.

The resident told the Messenger: “The pub has been closed for at least three years and since then it has been used by gangs of teenagers who gather there until late at night.

“Since then the pub has been vandalised and this is the second time there has been a fire at the premises.

“After today’s fire, most of the roof has gone.

“Some nights the noise is unbelievable and the police are always being called out by residents to disperse teenagers aged between 13 and 16 and it’s about time that parents took some responsibility as well, and made sure their children are not out on the streets until 11pm some nights.”
