Inspector Gary Stuart

SINCE the last article, there have been a number of positive developments within the area, most notably with the violent crime.

In addition to targeting the offenders and locations for the recent spike in violent crime and associated anti-social behaviour, working as one with partners we have been able to identify the main offenders for these crimes, these are now being managed by behaviours contracts in conjunction with the Youth Offending Team.

These orders are in no way a soft option — they make the offender face up to their behaviours and the consequences, if the behaviour continues the person will quickly progress to the criminal justice system, although the aim of us all is to stop the behaviours as early as possible.

This work has been the result of some very brave victims, and some dedicated joint working between the police, council and wider partners who are fully committed to helping keep the community safe.

On the subject of community, as the weather finally turns to spring please still keep an eye on any vulnerable neighbours that you have, a cup of tea and some conversation can go a long way.

As the weather warms up, please also keep an eye on home security, we often see more theft of garden equipment that has been left out overnight, or burglaries where a window has been left open in the warm weather.

We are delighted to be getting some of the new recruits joining us at Trafford.

They will be put with the existing frontline teams to bolster the service that we provide.

Please remember that Trafford is still one of the safest places in the country to live and visit, and we all want to keep that status, so if you see something please tell us, no matter how small it seems.

You can contact us in person when we are on patrol, through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 and 101 for all other non-emergency calls.
