SNOW and strong winds have returned as the Mini Beast from the East hits the UK.

With yellow warnings for snow and ice in force across Greater Manchester today, residents are being warned to be prepared if they have to venture out.

The Met Office is warning that snow showers are likely to continue throughout the day as temperatures drop to -1C, with an increased chance that longer spells of snow will affect some areas.

Separate Amber warnings are in force for those areas most likely to see disruption.

Any heavier snow is expected to fall in the South West today.

There is a chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.

Damage to trees or other structures could lead to power cuts.

Tomorrow, ice is likely widely on roads, pavements and cycle paths.
