TRIBUTES have been paid to a man who died after being hit by a car.

Peter Heywood, aged 75, of Stretford, was struck by a silver Audi A2 in Chester Road shortly after 8pm on Tuesday.

Mr Heywood suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Paying tribute to Peter, his family said: “Peter was a well-respected man and was known by many in the Trafford area.

“He was a true gentleman, very independent and a proud man. He will be missed by all who knew him.

“We would like to thank everyone for the abundance of support that has been shown at this truly heart breaking time.

“Peter leaves behind his daughter, Michelle, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.”

Police Constable John Harrison-Gough, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My thoughts are very much with all of Peter’s family at this truly devastating time and we have specially trained officers who will continue to support them.

“Our investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision remains ongoing and I would urge anyone who witnessed it or has any information to please get in touch.

“I would also ask that anyone who has any CCTV or dash-cam footage to please contact police.”
