A 39-year-old man has been charged with numerous offences after committing a series of serious crimes in Altrincham

On Thursday night, January 11, a man armed with knives forced himself into two homes.

He threatened the first family at The Downs, Altrincham, stealing their property.

The man then kidnapped the family in their own vehicle in an attempt to steal cash from their bank accounts at local ATM's.

The family were able to escape, but then the assailant continued his crime spree by attacking a family on Oakfield Road, stealing items and then their vehicle.

Police spotted the stolen vehicle heading towards Manchester where a short pursuit took place and the suspect was arrested.

Offences on arrest were: three robberies, two of kidnap, two of possession bladed article, one attempted robbery, disqualified driving, fail to stop, assaulting a police officer, aggravated vehicle taking and having no insurance

Details of the offender are not currently being published as there is an on-going investigation.
