AN AUDIOLOGIST is helping the hard of hearing by helping put a hearing dog through its paces.

Specsavers Hearing Centre in Altrincham recently held a fun day where the team from Hearing Dogs for the Deaf brought along a hearing dog for staff and customers to meet.

Staff have since been told they will be sponsoring a dog called Juno.

The team already raised £100 during the fun day, which was held at its store in George Street, and will now be given monthly updates on how Juno is progressing during the rigorous training she will receive to support a hard-of-hearing person in everyday situations.

Anum Saleemi, audiology director at Specsavers Altrincham, said: "Our fun day was a huge success and we’re very proud to be able to raise money which will benefit the life of someone dealing with hearing loss.

"The amount of training that it takes to make sure these dogs are able to support people living with hearing loss is quite intense and having been visited by the Hearing Dogs for the Deaf many times we have seen first-hand how helpful these amazing animals are.

"We’re looking forward to sharing updates on Juno and her training on our website and in store."
