THE company behind a £65m makeover scheme for Sale launched its public consultation on the plans with two drop-in events.

More than 600 residents attended the events on November 16 and 18 and provided their feedback on the emerging proposals of developer Maloneview (Sale) Limited.

The proposals would see the partial demolition of The Square Shopping Centre in a scheme theh firm claims would revitalise the town centre, delivering hundreds of new jobs and boosting Sale’s economy.

The mixed-use regeneration scheme would deliver approximately 205 residential units, ranging from studios to a selection of townhouses, alongside approximately 3,400 sq m of retail and leisure floorspace, a 2,000 sq m, six screen cinema as well as an extensive new public realm; and a new public square bordering Sibson and Springfield Roads to the south.

The firm believes the plans will not only boost Sale’s credentials as a key shopping and leisure destination, but also improve the town’s night time economy and provide a much-needed gateway into the existing town centre from the south.

A wide range of comments have been received, with residents still able to view the consultation material and provide feedback online at www.salesquareregen.com until November 26,

Mark Rebbeck, commercial director at Maloneview, said: “I am delighted at how well attended our consultation events have been, with hundreds of residents keen to view and provide feedback on our plans.

“You are still able to have your say online as the consultation remains open. I would like to encourage as many people as possible to provide their feedback at our website www.salesquareregen.com.”

"It’s an exciting time for the project and we are committed to ensuring that the local community can help shape these plans to successfully regenerate the town centre."
