A LAW firm Simpson Millar has donated £15,000 of unclaimed client funds to sight loss charity, Henshaws in Stretford.
With those funds now totalling over £80,000, Stretford-based Simpson Millar asked employees to
nominate their favourite charities, from where a committee chose a final five to divide the funds between.
Henshaws offers a wide range of support to people who are visually impaired or are living with sight loss.
In particular, the
donation from Simpson Millar will help fund First Step – a support service for people who have just been diagnosed with a serious eye condition.
Sarah Martin, Henshaws’ corporate fundraising and events manager, said: “Taking in the news that you have got an eye condition, one which could potentially lead to sight loss, is extremely difficult.
"It is exactly at this point, during the toughest early days, that we want to be there for
people with practical and emotional support.
“Some people need support during GP appointments; others just need someone to talk to in confidence.
"The donation from Simpson Millar will directly help people at a very difficult time in their lives, whatever their needs.”
Lisa Wright from Simpson Millar in Manchester said: “This is not the first time we have supported Henshaws – it is a charity which provides a range of services which are hugely valuable at time of great distress and uncertainty.
"I was really pleased when they were chosen for this donation.
"Local, independent charities in particular need all the help they can get to promote and support the work they do which many of us, one day, might end up benefiting from.”
