POLICE are appealing for information after thieves with knives robbed a Co-op in Flixton.

At around 7am on October 30, police were called to reports of a robbery on Ambleside Road.

Two men had entered the Co-op store carrying knives, forcing a member of staff on duty to open the security office.

Once inside, the men took cash from within the office before leaving the shop and getting into a Black Fiat Punto.

This car was found abandoned a short while after on Wycliffe Road.

Detective Constable Amanda Tootill of GMP’s Trafford borough, said: “These men were carrying weapons in the knowledge that this would terrify the staff member within.

“The person working in the shop at the time could have been seriously injured, and was simply doing their job when met with these two men carrying knives.

“This happened in the morning when people may have been around the area, so I’d ask anyone who saw something suspicious at the time, or recognises the description of the car, to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 7677 or 101, quoting incident number 282 of 30/10/17. This can also be done anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
