A MAN in his 50s has been arrested in Flixton after stripping fully naked in front of school children.

At around 3:30pm on Tuesday, police arrested the man on the junction of Irlam Road and Flixton Road in Flixton for exposure.

The offender stripped himself fully naked and threw his clothes into a nearby hedge. He then stood in full view of passing school children whilst smiling at them for around two minutes.

Members of the public said he then put his clothes back on and walked to a bus stop.

Police arrived within minutes to arrest the man who was believed to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

He was also arrested for resisting arrest with one officer being slightly hurt.

The man is currently in a police cell where he will be interviewed about the offence and previous incidents of this nature.

Police have been patroling the neighbourhood since September after a number of incidents involving a male exposing himself were reported.

On Facebook, Walshy, Old Trafford NBO said: "This is a great arrest by officers Pc Sale, Pc Welsh and Pc Schofield on D Block North and we thank the members of public for contacting us. This had been a regular problem in the area as you will know from previous posts of mine, so let's hope this ends this disturbing issue."
