RESIDENTS packed Stretford Public Hall on Thursday evening to share their views council chiefs about their ambitious plans to regenerate Stretford.

The well-attended evening was the first of five Have Your Say Events which are being organised to consult with the local community on the refreshed Stretford Masterplan, which aims to create jobs, bring people into the town centre and enhance the local economy by approximately £26 million per year.

The main aim of the event was to hear people's feedback on the plans for Stretford town centre, which includes the proposal to open a new higher education facility - University Academy 92(UA92) - on the Kellogg’s headquarters site on Talbot Road in partnership with Lancaster University, the Class of ’92 and Microsoft.

People were grouped around tables for the discussion and gave their views on topics including: proposals to deliver high-quality campus accommodation on the Lacy Street site; how best to revive the Essoldo building; plus the vision for a new leisure centre for Stretford, and investment in Turn Moss.

The leader of Trafford Council, Sean Anstee, said: "A huge 'thank you' to everyone who took the time to come along and made this evening such a valuable session with lots of interesting discussion.

"It is an exciting time for Stretford and Old Trafford, and we're delighted the conversation has now really started. There's huge potential for this project to bring something fantastic to the communities here and together we can work to get this right."

People can also give their opinions via an online survey available at www.trafford.gov.uk/stretfordmasterplan until the consultation ends on December 19. Alternatively, have your say via social media tagging @traffordcouncil and/or using the hashtag #wearestretford

The Council will consider all comments and use them to inform any changes before delivering the Masterplan back to the Executive for final approval in January 2018.
