CHESHIRE Freemasons have made a donation of £2000 to the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).

The charity aims to provide free screening for young adults who may have undiagnosed heart conditions.

Stephen gave the cheque to Joanna and Simon Halliwell from Woodley, Stockport. They have been raising money for CRY ever since their 20-year-old son Joseph died unexpectedly, following a heart attack while out riding his bike.

Handing over the cheque, Cheshire's leading Freemason, Stephen Blank, from Altrincham said: "We hope our donation will help prevent other apparently healthy young people from succumbing to undiagnosed heart conditions."

Since its formation in 1995, CRY has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death among young people by promoting heart-screening programmes and funding medical research.
