THE Garden, Hale, kicked off Paint Hale Pink Week in style on October 12 as it welcomed more than 30 people to its Supper Club in support of Prevent Breast Cancer Charity.

The evening focused on the theme of prevention and the importance of good food and nutrition in staving off illness and disease.

Dr Michelle Harvie, author of ‘The 2 Day Diet’ and research dietitian at the Nightingale Centre, University Hospital South Manchester Trust, spoke between courses to a captive audience, highlighting the foods and practices than can lead to a healthier way of living.

Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor was a special guest on the evening and was awarded a ‘Celebrity Ambassador of the Year’ trophy during supper in acknowledgement of her work with Prevent.

A balloon raffle raised more than £3,200 on the evening and the café will be raising further funds for Prevent through sales of their ‘pink special’ food and drinks as part of their prevention menu throughout October
