PATIENTS in Trafford can benefit from improved facilities at the urgent care and walk-in centre at Trafford General Hospital.

The interrogated care facility launched last year and will now provide a smart new reception area and a larger waiting room with seating for up to 50 people.

It provides a single ‘front door’ and a single assessment process, where patients are directed to the most appropriate part of the service.

It is staffed by a team of experienced advanced and emergency nurse practitioners including a consultant nurse, among other clinicians, and GPs.

Dr Jon Simpson, CMFT’s Clinical Head of Medicine and Community Services said: said: “The Trafford Urgent Care Centre provides Trafford patients with a safe and effective service that meets their urgent care needs. Providing a single point of access takes away any confusion about where’s best to go for patients.

“The new front-of-house facilities will help to create a positive experience for our patients.”

The Trafford Urgent Care Centre continues to be a popular choice for local people, with an average of 70 people visiting every day over the course of a week.

The service is provided by Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and funded, on behalf of the people of Trafford, by Trafford Clinical Commissioning Group.

The service is open between 8am and 8pm, seven days a week and people are normally seen within an hour of arriving.

People requiring care after 8pm are advised to use the free-to-call NHS 111 non-emergency medical helpline to be directed to the most appropriate place; or call 999 in a medical emergency, if someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
