TRAFFORD residents can benefit from monthly support sessions aimed at anyone affected by cancer and their families.

Wellbeing Wednesdays are held on the third Wednesday of every month at the Macmillan Wellbeing Centre in Trafford, run by Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.

The Macmillan Wellbeing Centre provides practical, emotional and psychological support to people (including families and carers) who are affected by cancer or other serious life changing illnesses.

This could include counselling, relaxation groups, mindfulness, and complementary therapies, or specific courses relating to issues such as fatigue, body changes, or carers’ concerns.

Wellbeing Wednesdays aim to provide more information on this support, along with an opportunity for people to meet and chat with others who may be going through similar circumstances.

The next session is at 1.30 – 3.00pm on September 20, with the theme of Keeping Active.

Susan Norton, supportive care co-ordinator, said: “Clients at the centre have said that the chance to chat with others in a similar situation is very beneficial to their wellbeing.

“Wellbeing Wednesdays provide a very relaxed atmosphere to meet, over a cup of tea or coffee, while also having health professionals on hand to answer questions or give helpful advice.”

Macmillan Wellbeing Centre is located in the grounds of Trafford General Hospital, Moorside Road, Davyhulme, Manchester, M41 5SN.

Booking a place is not essential, but for more information please contact the Wellbeing Centre on 0161 746 2080.

Other upcoming sessions will be held on October 18 (on better sleep), November 15 (on nutrition) and December 20.
