THE waiting is finally over for A-level students across Trafford who will find out their results this morning.

Many are hoping that their grades will be good enough to secure a coveted university place.

Changes to the qualifications system mean 13 A-level subjects this year have been decided solely by final exams, with no link to coursework or AS-levels.

The national results have been kept similar to last year, with over a quarter of entries receiving top grades.

But in those 13 subjects, which include history, English, psychology, physics, chemistry and biology, there were 0.7% fewer A* and A grades.

Messenger will keep you informed of A-Level results for Trafford students throughout the day.

The celecbating youngsters include Sale students Euan Lucas and Louise Tamin, who collected excellent A-Level results from Abbey College Manchester this morning.

Euan, aged 19, from Ashton Lane, achieved A B A in Mathematics, History and Physics, and will now be studying Physics at University of Surrey.

Louise, 18, from Woodlands Road, opened results of A A and A in Maths, Biology and Chemistry. She will be going on to study Biochemistry at Newcastle University.

Principal Liz Elam commented: “Euan and Louise are very hard-working students and their results came as no surprise. They should be very proud of their efforts this year and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

“We take pride in helping our students reach their potential enabling them to gain entry into top universities around the country.”

Euan added: “I am very pleased with my results and grateful to the staff at Abbey College Manchester for helping me to get to this stage.”
