HAS anyone else noticed that the streets of Urmston are becoming overgrown with weeds and tree sproutings and that the town centre flower planters are a disgrace?.

It appears that Trafford Council no longer have the resources to maintain our local environment to the standard that we have become accustomed to, so perhaps it is time for we local residents to get together and do something about it ?

Provided that there is sufficient local support the Urmston Partnership is hoping to launch a 'Urmston in Bloom' scheme using volunteers to tidy-up Urmston Town Centre and the other shopping areas in Urmston, Flixton & Davyhulme. Both Altrincham and Timperley currently have similar schemes which have worked well for them to improve their local environment.

If you feel that something needs to be done in M41 and you are willing to give some of your time to improving our locality please e-mail an expression of interest to: david@traffordevents.co.uk. For those of you who do not have e-mail access please can you leave a voice message on 0161 748 7296.

In order to get the scheme into operation we will need organisers and administrators as well as gardeners, so physical strength and mobility are not necessary. It is expected that the practical work will mainly take place on Sunday mornings when the streets are at their quietest.
