A TRAFFORD MP says he is 'deeply disappointed' that the route of the HS2 line is still set to run through Warburton.

Altrincham and Sale West MP Graham Brady has been campaigning for several years for changes to the the line, which is earmarked to go through the rural village area.

He has repeatedly called on the Government to revise the route but so far this has fallen on deaf ears.

Mr Brady has so far voted against HS2 because the necessary route changes, in particular in Warburton, have not been made.

This week the 'final' route of the £56billion Manchester to London line was announced, but the proposed line through Warburton was not altered.

Mr Brady believes the line, destroying some residents' land and homes, would be a 'serious eyesore'.

This week, he told Messenger that he was 'deeply disappointed" at the 'lack of movement to protect Warburton".

Although ministers have already promised Mr Brady that they will look again at the business case for the section of track passing through Warburton after the relocation of a proposed depot from Golborne to a site near Crewe, he has not yet received any details.

He continued: ‘I will continue to press for improvements to the route and any changes to mitigate environmental and other damage."

The airport spur on the line will also affect properties in Hale Barns.

Mr Brady said: "‘I am pleased that compensation arrangements have been confirmed and I hope this will assist residents in Hale Barns living near the proposed route."
