HUNDREDS of residents flocked to Goose Green to vote on funding for community projects in South Trafford.

Hosted by the South Trafford Locality Partnership, the grant funding event was held on Saturday, June 16

Ten groups were making bids for the £15,000 worth of funds available. Each group had a stall and made their proposal before voting was taken. In the event voting was so close that all the groups were able to receive a share of the funds.

Cllr Laura Evans, Chair of the South Trafford Locality Partnership and Executive Councillor for Communities and Partnerships, said:”I am so pleased that given how hard each of they worked on their nominations and the strength on the proposals, that they all got a slice of the funding.

“The event was a wonderful showcase of some of the fantastic community projects being delivered in South Trafford. Goose Green was a wonderful location for the event and we would like to thank the local businesses for welcoming us, as well as all of the participants and the hundreds of residents who came along to vote.”

Among the successful applicants was Art with a Heart which won funding to create a heritage timeline trail through Altrincham town centre. Seed Studios will be using the grant they won to promote mental health and emotional well-being through guitar based music sessions. Another grant will contribute to community cycle rides run by the Trafford Leisure Trust while Talk, Listen, Change will be able to provide more counselling to reduce isolation and promote positive relationships.

The funding provided through the Trafford Council’s Community Grants scheme, goes to projects promoted by community groups in the area.

The South Trafford Locality Partnership covers the wards of Altrincham, Bowdon, Broadheath, Hale Barns, Hale Central, and Timperley Village.
