TRAFFORD had the largest turn-out for the Manchester Mayoral election.

The region is eagerly awaiting to hear who is Manchester’s first elected Mayor this afternoon.

And it has been revealed that Trafford had the most voters in all the boroughs.

However, just over a third of residents flocked to the polls to vote, with a 38.35 per cent turn out.

Only 64,202 out of a 167,432-strong electorate cast their vote on May 4.

But Trafford is head and shoulders above other boroughs – only 25.11 per cent of Salford residents turned out to vote.

Just under a third of people voted in Bury and Stockport, followed by Bolton, at 29.34 per cent, Wigan, at 27.29 per cent, Manchester, at 28.40 per cent, Tameside, at 26 per cent, Rochdale, at 25.78 per cent, Rochdale, at 25.24 per cent, and finally Salford.

Overall, 573,543 out of 1,982,343 voted in Manchester – recording a 28.93 per cent turnout.

Homegrown candidates, Sean Anstee and Jane Brophy, are in the running for the coveted title.
