A THREE day running event returns for a second year to the Mersey Valley, Trafford, from July 14 to 16.

Friday evening 14th July (7.15pm) will be A five mile cross-trail race starting at Turnmoss and through the road paths to the undulating Stretford Meadows, and back, will be staged on Friday evening, July 14, from 7.15pm.

The Mile challenge races around Sale Water Park take place on Saturday, July 15.

Sunday, July 16 - will see runners tackling an early morning three mile trail race along the banks of the River Mersey. A presentation will follow in the beer garden of Jackson’s Boat Pub.

The winner will be the runner with the lowest points total across the three stages. Cash prizes and running shoes and clothing will be awarded to series and category winners.

“The Mersey Valley is stunning setting for this event. With a mix of terrain and varying distances this event should be both fun and challenging. We aim to attract both recreational and the more serious runner,” said Steve Green, who organises the event with Tim Egerton.

Stockport’s Jack Martin, the winner of the men’s series last year, went on to represent GB in cross-country in 2017. Laura Riches of Leigh also went on to achieve track success, finishing sixth in the British Students 3000m race.
