TRAFFORD MPs have condemned the Westminster terror attack which struck the heart of the captial last week.

British-born jihadi Khalid Masood killed four people, including a police officer, in the horrific attack in central London on Wednesday.

Graham Brady, the MP for Altrincham and Sale West, was one of the MPs put into lockdown in the chambers at the House of Commons during the rampage.

But his thoughts were with the victims.

“I would like to send my condolences to the families and friends of all those who were murdered or injured in this pointless and savage attack,” he said.

“I am especially conscious of the risk taken by those who protect us every day.”

He explained what happened: “There had been a vote in the House of Commons so everyone was going through the divisions lobbies when it became clear something was wrong.

“Some doors had been locked and there were reports that shootings had been heard.

“They said the Palace of Westminster had been locked down.”

Members of Parliament, officials and the public who had been in the gallery during a were kept in.

Mr Brady said that Members and people who were used to working in the House weren’t too concerned.

“We are used to working in a secure environment with armed police.

“It was worse for members of the public especially those who were passing by outside.

“Whatever their party everyone was in the same situation and keen for information.

“We got some from news programmes obtained from telephones or i-Pads.”

Mr Brady believed that the Prime Minister had handled the situation the right way.

“The tone of her response on Thursday was exactly right and I think it was right that she wanted to wait under she had established the facts instead of rushing to make a statement on Wednesday afternoon.

“As Chairman of the 1922 Committee I wrote to Tobias Ellwood to say how proud his colleagues were at his professionalism and calm when trying to save the life of PC Keith Palmer.”
