ALTRINCHAM skaters are continuing to climb to the top, adding more medals to their haul.

Altrincham Synchro Club took two teams to the Budapest Cup in Hungary, a prestigious annual international synchronized skating competition which took place from March 16 to 19.

And they have landed back on home soil with plenty to celebrate.

The Whizz Kids Novice team clinched another international silver medal, adding to their already impressive collection.

They have won three international silvers this season, as well as a gold at the British Championships.

The Bladerunners also flew to compete and maintained their personal best score against stiff competition.

Team coach Sam Ozard said: "This was a fantastic end to our very successful season.

“All the teams have worked incredibly hard and their efforts have been well rewarded.

“One of the highlights of the trip was meeting the Senior World champions, Team Paradise of Russia."

Although the teams’ competitive season has now come to an end, the skaters are busy planning for their end of season Synchro Gala, which takes place on Saturday May 13.

This will be a fundraiser for The Teenage Cancer Trust, in honour of one of the skaters, who is currently battling non-hodgkins lymphoma aged just 18.

The British Men's Senior and Junior Champion and the British Ladies Junior Champion will be taking to the ice, as well as teams from Scotland and London.
