ALTRINCHAM and Sale West MP Graham Brady has welcomed Theresa May’s vision of Britain's role when it leaves the European Union.
The Prime Minister set out her plans in a speech on Tuesday - which would see Britain leaving the single market.
She said that the UK would continue to be a close friend of the EU. She said she wanted a secure, prosperous, tolerant country; a magnet for international talent and a home for the pioneers and innovators who will shape the world ahead.’
She said that she wants "the greatest possible access to the single market on a reciprocal basis, through a comprehensive trade agreement."
Speaking at Lancaster House in London. Mrs May continued: ‘What I am proposing cannot mean membership of the single market.’
She announced that the final Brexit deal reached between the UK and EU will be put to a vote of both Houses of Parliament.
Mr Brady said: "The Prime Minister has shown the clarity of vision we need, and has set the right tone for the future. A prosperous tolerant country, a magnet for international talent and a home for the pioneers and innovators who will shape the world ahead.
"I welcome her vision of a truly global Britain.’
