FOUR people were arrested at yesterday’s Manchester United vs Liverpool match.

On Sunday January 15, Old Trafford hosted the Premier League fixture, which finished 1-1 at the full time whistle.

Greater Manchester police said that, despite being a hotly contested affair, “minimal moments of disorder” took place.

A total of four arrests were made during the operation.

A Manchester United fan was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer; a Liverpool fan was arrested on suspicion of a section 5 public order; another Manchester United fan was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly; and a man was arrested on suspicion of ticket touting.

Superintendent Dean Howard, match commander for the game, said: “The fixture has passed largely without incident which I think is testament to both the behaviour of the majority of fans in attendance and the professionalism of the police officers and stewards involved today.

“I would like these people for helping to ensure the operation was a success and all those in attendance could enjoy the game in a safe environment.

“I hope everybody enjoyed their trip to Old Trafford, even if the result won’t please all.”
