WORKS on the Trafford Park tram line has begun.

“Initial enabling and utility works” on the new 3.4mile six-stop Metrolink line through Trafford Park to the intu Trafford Centre began this week.

Metrolink warned that traffic management measures, including lane closures, may be required to allow for the works.

The Trafford Park line will branch off from the existing Pomona tram stop, calling at the Wharfside, near to Old Trafford football stadium, the Imperial War Museum, Trafford Park, EventCity and the intu Trafford Centre.

The new tram line is expected to be completed in four years.

Metrolink has organised a series of drop-in sessions to answer the public’s questions about the new line.

They will take place at MediaCityUK, The Open Centre, on Wednesday January 11, 10am-4.30pm; intu Trafford Centre, on Friday January 13, 10am-10pm and on Saturday January 14 from 10am to 9pm; and EventCity, on Monday February 20, 10am to 4.30pm.

Trafford Park is the largest major employment zone in Greater Manchester outside the city centre and is home to over 1,300 businesses and more than 35,000 jobs.
