AROUND 8,000 people turned out to watch X factor star Fleur East flick the switch on the 2016 Christmas lights at the Trafford Centre.
Flanked by Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh and Key 103’s Mike Toolan, the singer turned on the iconic display on stage at the Orient on Thursday October 27.
She was also the headline act for the night, performing her smash hit single, Sax, from her album Love, Sax and Flashbacks.
Before taking to the stage, fellow X-factor alumni Reggie Boolie and Britain’s Got Talent’s Collabro warmed the 8,000-stong crowd with Christmas favourites and upbeat tunes.
The winner of the Trafford Centre’s ‘Light it up’ competition also had her moment in the spotlight. Mia Lawrie, 16, from Bramhall, Stockport, performed a rendition of Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want for Christmas’.
The student was crowned winner of a competition run by the shopping centre to find a local singing star and win £1,000.
