People across Trafford will have the chance to get involved in a series of walks this autumn thanks to the Greater Manchester Walking Weekends programme.

The walks, taking place over the weekend of 21 - 23 October, will explore local gems such as ‘The Wizard of Worthington Park’, Sale’s very own ‘secret garden’, Stretford Meadows and Jack Lane Nature Reserve.

The walks will be led by experienced walking guides from 'City of Trees', who will share their knowledge of the local area.

Funded by the Department of Transport, the Greater Manchester Walking Weekends are part of Transport for Greater Manchester’s (TfGM’s) Walking Works project, encouraging people to make a walk part of their daily routine.

Helen Smith, head of logistics, environment and active travel at TfGM, said: “We’re pleased to be working with some of our local walking partners again to offer Walking Weekends in Greater Manchester.

“The walks are easy to access by public transport, so why not jump on a tram, train or bus and explore somewhere new?

“If the Walking Weekends are a success, we’ll be arranging more for next spring and we’re hoping to include even more walking groups and explore new areas.”
