A SURVEY for children to express what they think about air quality has been launched by Stretford and Urmston MP Kate Green.

The questionnaire, which can be accessed online on the MP's website, asks children about how they travel to school and any changes they’d like to see to the air quality around their schools.

Data from the World Health Organisation recently found that the air in the Greater Manchester area contained levels of dangerous particles which were above the legally safe level to breathe. Ms Green is concerned about the impact of poor air quality on the health of children growing up in Trafford and wants to hear directly from children about changes they’d like to see.

She will host a meeting for pupils at Trafford schools to discuss the results of the survey and what to do to tackle poor air quality early next year.

She said: “"Air quality is a really important issue here in Stretford and Urmston – the M60 goes right by some of our schools and people's homes.

“I know that many residents are extremely worried about the impact of poor air quality on children growing up round here.

“That’s why I’m launching a survey for children so I can hear what they want for the future of the air we breathe here in Stretford and Urmston.

“The survey is available on my website and doesn’t take long to fill in.

“I look forward to hearing children’s views and reflecting these to the council and the government to push for much-needed improvements to the air quality round here.” Children can fill in the survey online here: docs.google.com/forms/d/13t98mPWmW2H7mt8YWSVDjRcXH3HpPxXCwLwlxwatABM/edit.
