VIRGIN Media customers in Sale are furious that they haven't been able to use their computers for days.

The services went down at the weekend - and frustrated customers have been told they may have to wait until October 3 for them to be reconnected.

Virgin says they were first made aware of the problem on Sunday and are working to correct it.

But customers - some of whom pay £100 a month - say the response is not good enough.

To add insult to injury, some customers have received letters informing them of a price increease of around £3.50 a month.

Retired journalist Mike Henfield, of Grasmere Road, Sale, said: "I think the service is absolutely appalling.

"It is almost impossible to speak to a human being. We have been fobbed off for the past few days with a recorded message."

A Virgin Media spokesman said: "We were first made aware of a small, localised broadband outage in Sale on the morning of Sunday, September 25.

"Engineers have been on site this morning (Tuesday) investigating the fault and will make repairs and reinstate services once the cause of the outage is identified."
