TALK about a flighty pooch!

A dog who went missing eight months ago has finally been reunited with his owners after being found wandering around Manchester Airport – 16 miles from home.

Diesal, a 14-month-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, was collared by police officers after being found strolling around one of the airport’s terminal buildings at 5am on Friday September 23.

He had no collar but a microchip revealed that Diesal’s family lived in Salford and that he had gone missing from the garden eight months ago.

Well-travelled Diesal was reunited with his owner on Monday and hopefully he will be kept on a tight leash.

Sergeant Steve Jameson, of GMP’s Airport team, said: “He is the friendliest, daftest, sweetest dog and we all loved having him here today. Our job allows us to deal with a variety of situations but this is definitely a first and it’s a tail we will never forget.

“We have no idea how Diesel got here, maybe he wanted a nice holiday away, but we currently have no leads as to what he’s been up to for the last eight months.

“I am so pleased we found his family. His owner was in complete shock when we called her and she couldn’t stop crying and it was lovely to see them reunited.

“I think this case stresses the importance of having dogs microchipped because we could instantly reunite him with his owner.

“Every dog has its day and today was Diesel’s.”
