TO mark the start of the new football season a Sale pub has announced that it is searching for the town's most over-the-top goal celebrations.

The Moorfield Greene King pub is looking for locals whose viewing jubilations easily rival those of the footballers on the pitch.

With £1,000 up for grabs for the best ‘CeleBEERtion,’ the Moorfield has joined forces with Jimmy Bullard, whose 2008 goal celebration mocking Hull City manager Phil Brown is consistently ranked amongst the top 10 of all time.

Offering his tips on the perfect pub goal celebration, Jimmy said: “It’s hard to beat the excitement you feel when your team scores. In the case of the professionals their celebrations are often remembered more than the goals.

“Outside the stadium there’s no better place to watch a game than down the pub, so we’re now turning the tables in a search to find the best Sale football fan celebration. Whether you pull your shirt over your head like Ravenelli, do the Peter Crouch robot, or something completely different, we want to see it.”

The competition is being launched through Moorfield’s ‘Season Ticket’ discount card, which offers guests 10 per cent off selected drinks during live football.

Richard Welsby general manager at the Moorfield, said: “We know that nothing beats getting together with your mates to watch a match in the pub. The football season is well under way and we really want our guests to show their support for the beautiful game.

“We’ve seen some fantastic celebrations over the years from our guests, so know that Sale’s got talent.”

To enter the competition, football fans just need to upload their pub goal celebrations to the Season Ticket Facebook page www.facebook.com/GKSeasonTicket before October 2.
