DO you feel the digital technology age is passing you by, fancy becoming more IT savvie, interested in data, or just want to explore the endless possibilities at your fingertips?

If so, make a date and pop along to Trafford Libraries inaugural Digital Festival at Urmston Library on Saturday September 24 (10am-3pm).

With a host of experts on hand, this free, fun day of IT advice, information, taster sessions and hands-on activities promises something for all ages and abilities.

Executive Member for Transformation and Resources, Cllr Laura Evans said: "The world of digital technology is such an exciting one, providing endless opportunities for people to study, research, learn, develop new skills, communicate or just have fun. The Council is keen to make sure that local people have the confidence, skills and understanding to confidently include modern technology in their daily lives.

"I am sure this Trafford 'first' will provide a fantastic opportunity for people to learn more, ask questions and gain confidence in an informal, friendly environment."

Trafford Libraries staff will be offering tips on how digital technology makes it easier to discover your family tree as well as demonstrating the ease with which free electronic magazines, books and audio books can be downloaded. Younger visitors will also be enthralled with digital themed craft activities.

Trafford College staff will be hosting four free taster sessions, Information Technology for Beginners, Information Technology for Improvers, IT Hot Shots and a final information and Q and A session on the other Trafford College course opportunities. Places must be booked beforehand, and this can be done via Eventbrite www.eventbrite.co.uk or ask a member of staff.

Other partners on hand during the day include: O2 Gurus - providing personal help with all your digital enquiries.

Age UK - digital technology for over 50s.

Gorse Hill Studios - Digital based music, video and photography taster sessions.

University of Central Lancashire Civic Drone Centre - giving a drones and drone technology talk.

Altrincham Fablab - providing the chance to learn about 2D and 3D design using the latest fabrication technology.

Robogals - This student organisation is looking to increase the numbers of women in engineering, science and technology. Their fun and educational initiatives are aimed at primary and secondary school pupils.

Trafford Innovation and Intelligence Lab - giving people the chance to find out more about making the most of open data.

Code Club Kids' Corner - exciting, fun circuits building workshops for children aged from 6 to 18.
