CADETS from 145 (Altrincham & Hale) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets recently excelled once again at the annual Greater Manchester Wing Training Day.

Hosted at Hopwood Hall College Middleton, nearly 800 cadets and staff from across the Wing took part in a number of competitions including media, music and drill showcasing the skills of the cadets.

Musicians from the squadron, based at Mainwood Road, Timperley, triumphed in the Ensemble section with a rendition of Pitch Perfect's "When I'm Gone". The Ensemble hopes to improve on its 2014 success, where they took 4th place at the national music finals.

Showing great skill and coordination, the squadron's 12 cadets and their Commander (Cadet Sergeant Anderson) beat the 36 other squadrons to take the Wing Champions title for best Foot Drill squad and Best Drill Commander – the most coveted result of the day.

These high scoring results, together with other successes on the day resulted in the Squadron taking third place overall.

Flight Lieutenant Jo Ryan said: "I am just so proud of our cadets. They have put in hours of practice to achieve today's fantastic results. It just goes to show that our motto for this year really is true. Team work really does make the dream work!"

Flt Lt Ryan received the Squadron's certificate for being the Wing Nomination for the Sir Alan Lees Trophy for 2015/16 during the final parade. The Trophy is awarded annually to the best overall performing Squadron in the Air Training Corps. The Squadron is again nominated for the Trophy this year.
