TOP advice on how to tackle GCSE exams has been given to the next generation by students at Cheadle Hulme School, who are celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE results with a 100 per cent pass rate.

Topping the SCHOOL’s results table, Mansi Dhokia, Genevieve Jeffcoate and Anna Slaven led the way receiving 11 A^ - A*s each (A^ is higher than A*).

Mansi Dhokia who received 11 A^ - A* grades including full marks in all Latin and maths papers and 168/180 in chemistry, said: “I’m really happy, the thing that really helped me was to not panic, working throughout the year and not leaving everything to the last minute.”

Genevieve Jeffcoate, who also achieved 11 A^ - A* grades including 97 per cent in her English language exam and over 90 per cent in chemistry, has spent her summer volunteering in a reading scheme for young people and plans to study English Literature at A Level.

She said: “I’m really pleased and got what I secretly hoped for. I’d advise anyone embarking on their GCSEs to pick the subjects that are right for you, if you get stuck, ask your teachers for help; it’s what they’re there for.”

CHS Head, Lucy Pearson, said: “Our students have excelled in their GCSE results and I am delighted with all that they have achieved. They’ve worked hard, shown themselves to have the motivation to achieve their best. They can be very proud of their grades and look forward to the next stage of their education.”

Ninety per cent of students received grades A*-B; 13 were awarded an impressive 10 A*s or higher, with a further 53 students achieving 9 A*-A.

Oscar Jones, who received a top score of 314/360 in dual science achieved 10 A^ - A*s and is enjoying a double celebration following his recent selection as the recipient of the coveted Arkwright Scholarship.

He said: “The GCSEs are great but if I’m pushed I’d say I’m most pleased about the Arkwright Scholarship, I really want to work in the design aspect of Engineering so this is a step in the right direction.”

At age 15, Amy Dunning who received 10 A^ - A* grades including 92 per cent in English language, was particularly pleased with her results after being brought forward a year at Year 1. She said “I worked really hard and it was stressful but my mum and dad really helped calm my nerves.”

Chris Squire, who has spent his summer holidays in the USA doing work experience at firms including JP Morgan and Capco received 10 A*s including over 90 per cent in chemistry and 96 per cent overall in English. He said: “I’m pleased with my results but mostly it’s a bit of a relief. My teachers told me I could do it when I doubted myself and gave me lots of confidence. It also helped to get a good set of mocks. Now I can relax a bit.”

Bel Wardle achieved her academic success whilst aspiring to victory on the golf course. “Golf really benefited me by giving me time away from my studies. At times it was really hard to fit everything in and I got pretty stressed out about it but after discussing it with Mrs Dunn I felt much more at ease and realised it is important not to panic. Just do the work and the results will follow.”

In chemistry, girls achieved particularly well with Grace Carr-Deed, Ella Greenwood, Lucy Rigg, Anna Slaven all enjoying higher than 90 per cent top scores.

Further high fliers achieving top marks include Emmie Woods who received 199/200 in her Food & Nutrition exam, and in English Literature, Olivia Rowley scored 100% overall, Ed Fluck and Tom Poyner both achieved 99%, receiving 60/60 in the exam, and Rebecca Pope scored 97 per cent.
