Phase One of £100m Future Carrington regeneration project submitted to Trafford Council

Developers HIMOR hope to revitalise the village by creating a mixed-use community on the 1,660 acre Carrington Estate – which incorporates the former Shell processing plant, Carrington Business Park and neighbouring farmland.

The first stage of the flagship development includes Carrington Village, which would deliver up to 900 two to three bedroom homes, and land off Common Lane, which would become home to 1million sq ft of employment space.

Plans would also see more than 13 hectares of green open space created, Carrington Rugby Club relocated and a new community centre erected.

It is estimated that the project will create 1,000 direct and 1,035 indirect jobs in the area. If plans are approved, Trafford Council can expect a new homes bonus of £7.6m.

Congestion is an ongoing issue in Carrington and developers hope to mitigate with significant transport improvements along Manchester Road at existing junctions at Isherwood Road/Flixton Road; Manchester Road/Common Lane; Carrington Lane, /West Sale Junction.

Submission of the plans follows a period of consultation with residents and stakeholders, who were asked for their views on the plans and layout.

The application will now be determined by Trafford Council later this year.
