AFTER a week of uncertain weather, the clouds blew away on July 17 to reveal a blue sky and warm sunshine for the Altrincham Interfaith Group’s annual picnic.

This year, as last, it was held at Denzell Gardens on the A56 and about 30 people came to share food and friendship together.

Carolyn Jones, the honorary secretary of Altrincham Interfaith Group, said: "After the horrors of France and Turkey, it was great to see people of all religions and backgrounds mingling and chatting together.

"This is what the world needs, and France could learn from the UK that extra security is not the way forward to tackle their problems, engagement and interaction, and mutual understanding is the path to peace."
