Last night, June 30, IWM North lit up to remember the thousands of men who would have been preparing for the first day of the Battle of Somme on July 1, exactly 100 years ago today.
The building lit up between 10pm and dawn this morning – when the first men would have been rallied to go ‘over the top’ into No Man’s Land.
