A TIMPERLEY sports coach helped England to a silver medal at the Hockey Masters World Cup Men's Over-45 tournament in Australia.
Gary Brown, who is head coach at Heyes Grove Tennis Club off Stoney Bridge Lane, played for England as they lost 3-1 to the hosts in the final in Canberra.
Now he is back home and pushing on with plans at the club.
The all-round sportsman is introducing lots of new initiatives at Heyes Grove to get people moving and involved in tennis.
From juniors to the new Evergreen Club, aimed at older players, he is running tennis camps during the school holidays and working closely with local schools, like the Willows and Heyes Lane Primary, to introduce the children to the game.
All abilities and ages are welcome with reduced membership fees and pay-as-you-play rates available.
